Message from the Representative Director

Music has the power to enable mutual understanding among people of different nationalities, religions, politics, cultures and languages.

“Harmony for Peace and Hope”, a general incorporated association, was established in January, 2017 to deliver a prayer for peaceful world free of nuclear weapons for the children of the future and to engage musicians from all over the world in music activities to promote peace.

In the successful reconstruction of Hiroshima from its devastation, it is not widely known that music played an important part in its recovery providing people moral support.

My involvement in music activities for peace began in 1991 when I organized a concert for peace by the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra on the occasion of the United Nations Day in Vienna with support of the then Cultural Minister of Austria.  I have been continuing these activities with many colleagues who endorse the cause of our association.
It is our wish that Hiroshima’s message for peace is carried on the wings of music to all corners of the world.

Support for these activities will be greatly appreciated.
